Basic Troubleshooting Steps
✅ Ensure the router is plugged into power
✅ Reboot the router (unplug for 30 seconds and plug it back in)
✅ Check that the SIM card is inserted properly
✅ Try placing the router closer to a window to improve signal
✅ Try using a different power outlet
Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Check the Router Lights
5G Light
- On: Device is connected to a 5G network
- Off: Not connected to 5G — try relocating the router near a window that faces the nearest 5G mast. If there are multiple masts nearby, try different orientations for the best signal.
4G Light
- On: Device is connected to 4G or 4.5G
- Off: Not connected — move the router closer to a window that points toward the nearest transmitter.
Wi-Fi Light
- On: Devices are connected and data is flowing
- Off: Connect to the router using the default WiFi name and password found on the label on the back of the device
Step 2: Check Router Placement
When it comes to 5G connectivity, placement is critical. The router should be positioned near a window with a direct line of sight to the nearest base station. You can view the coverage and ideal router orientation here.
Allow the router to sit undisturbed for 2–5 minutes in a new location to connect to the appropriate frequency. To confirm if the new location is optimal, download the Speedtest.net by Ookla app, ensure the server is set to Nova, and run speed tests in different positions.
Step 3: Reset the Router
- Use a paperclip or pin to press the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds
- The router will reboot and automatically reconfigure itself
- Note: WiFi name and password will reset to factory defaults
