How much data do I have left while abroad / within EEA?

You can monitor your data usage abroad in the Nova app or via the “Stóllinn” portal. This helps avoid unexpected charges or running out of data when travelling.
If you exceed the included data, the over‑usage rate applies (see below).

How to check usage

Mobile app:

  1. Open the Nova app and log in with your mobile number.

  2. Tap “Backstage” at the bottom of the home screen.

  3. Select the number you want to review.

  4. Select the data package or refill and scroll down to see current month’s usage.

Stóllinn (Web):

  1. Go to portal.nova.is and log in.

  2. Select the mobile number, then the “Summary” tab.

  3. Here you can view current month usage and up to the last 6 months.

What is included?
  • For data packages and subscription plans at Nova, a certain amount of data is included within the EEA at no extra cost.

  • If you exceed this data, the cost is 0.24 ISK per MB, which equals approximately 246 ISK per GB.

  • In the “AlltSaman” bundle you receive 30 GB of data within the EEA and UK per mobile number.

Subscription vs. Prepaid vs. All‑in‑One (“AlltSaman”)
  • Subscription: Data packages included; keep track of how much you use abroad.

  • Prepaid (Frelsi): Data refills and monthly top‑ups are valid within the EEA. If you run out, you must purchase another package.

  • All‑in‑One (“AlltSaman”): Home & mobile bundle; e.g., 30 GB data usage within EEA/UK for each mobile number included.

Tips & Reminders
  • Check when your monthly billing cycle begins: for example, in the AlltSaman bundle data is accounted by calendar month, not necessarily your billing day.

  • When abroad, turn off automatic downloads or updates to avoid unintended data usage.

  • If you’ll be abroad for a while and expect heavy usage (streaming, working remotely), consider upgrading your data package prior to departure.

  • Ensure the country you’re visiting belongs to the EEA; outside the EEA different pricing/charges may apply.

  • If you stay abroad long‑term, check the “Permanent Roaming” rules in the EEA, since usage patterns may trigger different rates.
