How do I add a new eero?
You can add a new eero to your existing eero network through the eero app. An additional eero can help improve WiFi coverage, especially if the signal is weak in certain areas of your home.
All eero devices use the same WiFi name and password. This means you do not need to connect your devices to a new WiFi network after adding another eero.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- your current eero network is active
- you have the eero app on your phone
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- the new eero is connected to power
- you are close to the new eero during setup
How to add a new eero
1. Open the eero app
Open the eero app on your phone.
2. Go to Add or Replace eero
Tap the + icon in the top-right corner of the app.
You can also go to:
Settings > Add or Replace eero
3. Select Add eero Device
Choose Add eero Device to add a new eero to your existing network.
4. Connect the new eero to power
Plug the new eero into a power outlet.
Wait until the LED light on the eero starts blinking blue. This means the device is ready for setup.
5. Follow the instructions in the app
The eero app will search for the new device and guide you through the setup.
If the app asks you to connect, confirm, or restart the device, follow the on-screen instructions.
6. Choose a location
Choose a location or give the eero a name, for example:
- Living room
- Bedroom
- Office
- Garage
This makes it easier to identify your eero devices in the app later.
7. Place the eero in a good location
Once setup is complete, you can move the eero to the area where you want to improve WiFi coverage.
The best placement is usually halfway between an area with a strong signal and the area where the signal is weak. Avoid placing the eero directly in the weakest spot, because it may not get a strong enough connection itself.
Tips for best placement
For the best WiFi coverage:
- place the eero in an open area
- avoid placing it inside a cabinet, behind a TV, or close to large metal objects
- do not place it too far away from the nearest eero
- place it on a shelf or table rather than on the floor
- try moving it slightly if the connection does not improve right away
eero uses mesh technology to let the devices work together and distribute WiFi more evenly throughout your home.
If setup does not work
Try the following:
- Close the eero app and open it again.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- Unplug the new eero for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
- Move the new eero closer to the gateway eero during setup.
- Check that the LED light on the eero is blinking blue.
- Try again in the eero app.
If it still does not work, try restarting your eero network or contact Nova.
FAQ
Can I add more than one eero?
Yes. You can add multiple eero devices depending on the size of your home and where the WiFi signal is weak.
Does the new eero need to be connected with an Ethernet cable?
No. An additional eero can work wirelessly as part of the mesh network. If you can connect it with an Ethernet cable, that may provide an even more stable connection.
Will I get a new WiFi name when I add another eero?
No. The new eero uses the same WiFi name and password as your current eero network.
Where should I place the new eero?
Place it in an open area, not too far from another eero, and preferably between an area with good signal and the area where the signal is weak.
