If you have a faulty or malfunctioning device and are wondering if the device is under warranty, here are some points that should hopefully help.
If you bought a device from Nova, it is under warranty for 24 months from the day of purchase. So if any hardware fault develops within that period, you can bring the device to Nova for repair. Nova is one of the very few companies in Iceland that offers a 2-year warranty on products purchased on a company SSN (Kennitala)
Faults that can be traced to water and moisture damage, shock damage due to a fall, or any kind of bad treatment of the device are not covered by the warranty. So if you drop your phone in a swimming pool or a blender, then it's unfortunately not covered by the warranty.
If you are the unlucky type, then of course we recommend buying a special warranty for your device.
It's also worth mentioning that normal wear and tear on equipment is not covered by the warranty.
Phone inspections are carried out by your seller or authorized repair shop. The warranty is voided if the device has been opened by a third party that does not have the required manufacturer's license. Warranty is also voided if the device is repaired with accessories not approved by the manufacturer (e.g front screen, charger, antenna and batteries).
Updates to the phone's operating system are not covered by the warranty unless the failure can be directly attributed to it.
Nova does not guarantee the back up of data and customers are required to back up their data such as photos, phone numbers, etc. before delivering the device for repair.
If an inspection reveals that the damage is not covered by warrany, you will receive information about this in an SMS message or by e-mail from Nova specifying the estimated cost of repair, if the device is repairable. You have up to 30 days to decide what to do with your device.
After that, Nova reserves the right to dispose of the device for recycling.
