Introduction
If you have a Samsung or Android phone that connects to a mobile or Wi-Fi network but still doesn't have internet access, this article will help you troubleshoot the issue.
Signs of the Issue
- Messages like: “No internet”, “Connected, no internet”
- Websites and apps fail to load
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Before trying advanced fixes, check the following:
✅ Mobile Data
Go to Settings → Connections → Data usage
Make sure Mobile data is turned on.
Also, check that you have an active data package via the Nova app or at nova.is.
✅ Date and Time Settings
Incorrect date/time settings can cause security or network errors.
Go to Settings → General Management → Date and Time
Make sure Automatic date and time is enabled.
✅ Software Update
Go to Settings → Software Update
Check for available updates and install them if needed.
Check APN Settings
Incorrect APN settings can prevent mobile internet access.
Nova APN settings:
- Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names (APN)
- Name: Nova
- APN: net.nova.is
- APN type: default,supl
- Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
- For data SIMs: use internet.nova.is
Roaming Data (if you’re abroad)
Enable data roaming if you're outside Iceland:
Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming → Turn ON
Reset Network Settings
If you're still experiencing issues, try resetting your network settings:
Settings → System → Advanced → Reset options → Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth
This will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings but will not delete personal data from your device.
