Using Family Setup, you can manage parental control settings on your child’s iPhone or iPad. This guide explains how to enable and adjust restrictions for content, privacy, and purchases.
Why Parental Control is Important
Parental controls help you:

Before You Begin
Ensure all devices in your Family Group are updated to the latest iOS version
Family Setup enabled on your device
Access to your child’s Apple ID via Family Sharing
Step 1: Set up Family Setup
Follow the [Family Setup on iPhone guide](Set up Family on iPhone).
Connect your child’s device to your Family Group.
Step 2: Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions
Open Settings.
Tap Screen Time.
Under Family, select your child’s name.
Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Enter your Screen Time passcode.
Switch on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
💡 Note: Turning off these settings disables all parental controls until you turn them back on.
Step 3: Prevent App Store Purchases
Settings → Screen Time.
Content & Privacy Restrictions → Enter passcode.
Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases.
Set each option to Don’t Allow.
Under Require Password, choose Always Require or Don’t Require.
Step 4: Allow or Restrict Built-in Apps
Settings → Screen Time.
Content & Privacy Restrictions → Enter passcode.
Tap Allowed Apps & Features.
Select the apps you wish to allow.
Step 5: Restrict Explicit and Age-Rated Content
Settings → Screen Time.
Content & Privacy Restrictions → App Store, Media, Web, & Games.
Adjust settings for music, movies, TV shows, apps, and web content based on age ratings.
