Setting up Apple Watch

Before you get Úrlausn at Nova, you need to set up your Apple Watch and pair it with your phone. After that, you’re all set with Úrlausn — you can leave your phone at home and have everything smart on your watch!

1. Turn on Apple Watch and put it on

Press and hold the side button to turn on your Apple Watch until you see the Apple logo. This may take a few minutes.

2. Hold Apple Watch close to your iPhone

Wait until the message Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch appears on your iPhone and then tap Continue. If you don’t see this message, open the Watch app on your iPhone, select All Watches, and then Pair New Watch.

If this is your Apple Watch, tap Set Up for Myself. Keep Apple Watch and iPhone close to each other until you finish these steps.

3. Scan the animation with your iPhone

Position the watch face in the center of the viewfinder on your iPhone. Wait until you see a message confirming that your Apple Watch has been paired.

If you can’t use the camera, tap Pair Apple Watch Manually and follow the on-screen steps.

4. Set up as new or restore from backup

If this is your first Apple Watch, select Set Up as New Apple Watch. If you want to restore your data from an older Apple Watch, select Restore from Backup.

If prompted, update Apple Watch to the latest version of watchOS.

Read the terms and conditions, then tap Agree, and again Agree to continue.

5. Sign in with your Apple ID

If prompted, enter your Apple ID password. If not, you can sign in later from the Apple Watch app. Tap General > Apple ID and sign in.

If Find My is not set up on your iPhone, you’ll be asked to enable Activation Lock. If you see the Activation Lock screen, your Apple Watch is already linked to an Apple ID. You must enter the email and password for that Apple ID to continue setup. If the Apple Watch previously belonged to someone else, you may need to contact the former owner to remove Activation Lock.

6. Choose your settings

Apple Watch will display the settings it shares with your iPhone. If you’ve enabled options like Find MyLocation ServicesWi-Fi Calling, and Diagnostics on iPhone, they’ll automatically be enabled on your Apple Watch.

You can also choose other options like Route Tracking and Siri. If Siri isn’t already set up on your iPhone, it will be enabled after you select this option. You can also choose your preferred text size for the watch.

7. Create a passcode

You can skip creating a passcode, but we recommend it if you want to use Apple Pay and other smart features.

Select Create a Passcode or Add a Long Passcode on your iPhone, then enter the code on your Apple Watch. To skip, select Don’t Add Passcode.

8. Choose features and apps

Next, you’ll be prompted to set up Apple Pay by adding a card. Then you’ll see options for features like automatic watchOS updates, SOS, and Activity. In the Apple Watch app on iPhone, you can also register for Úrlausn.

Finally, you can choose to install all available Apple Watch apps now, or install apps individually later.

9. Wait for pairing to complete

Pairing can take some time, depending on how much data you have on your iPhone. While you wait, try out Apple Watch Basics to learn more about what you can do with your watch.

Keep your devices close together until you hear a chime and feel a gentle tap from the Apple Watch, then press the Digital Crown.
